List of Districts of Karnataka 2023:- Karnataka Locale list comprises 31 regions situated in 4 significant authoritative divisions. Bangalore Division, Belagavi Division, Mysore Division, and Kalaburagi Division are these administrative divisions. Up until 1956, the only regions in Karnataka that spoke Kannada were included on the initial list of districts.

Numerous previous states, for example, Mysore and Coorg were added to the province of Karnataka in 1956. Read the following information to keep up with the changes that have taken place in the districts of Karnataka.

How Many Districts in Karnataka?

As of now, there are 31 regions in Karnataka. These districts have been divided into the four administrative divisions of Bangalore, Belagavi, Mysore, and Kalaburagi for improved law and order. However, the Karnataka districts have undergone numerous transformations in recent years.
In fact, the residents of the state are calling for the establishment of additional districts in Karnataka, including the following:
  • Tumakuru district residents Tipaturu and Madhugiri
  • Putturu from the district of Dakshina Kannada.
  • Jamakhandi from the district of Bagalkote.
  • Sedam from the district of Kalaburagi.
  • Gokak and Chikkodi, are both in the Belagavi district.
  • Sirsi from the Uttara Kannada area.
  • Hunasuru from the district of Mysuru.
  • Indi, of the district of Vijayapura.
  • Raichuru district’s Sindhanuru

History of Districts in Karnataka

Since 1956, when the Kannada-speaking regions of the former states of Coorg and Mysore were combined, the history of Karnataka districts can be traced back to that time. Mysore, Bombay, and Hyderabad were among these locations. In 1973, Karnataka was chosen as the state’s official name. Numerous additional districts in Karnataka have been added since then.
Here is a portion of the significant occasions that have happened since the underlying Karnataka regions were laid out.
  • In June 2007, the locale of Chikkaballapura from Kolar and Ramanagara from Bengaluru Rustic were shaped.
  • From Kalaburagi, the district of Yadagiri was created in December 2009.
  • B.S. Yeddyurappa, the Chief Minister of Karnataka, established the district of Vijayanagara from Ballari in November 2020.
Karnataka Districts – Administrative Structure
The districts in Karnataka are broken up into four major administrative divisions, as was mentioned earlier. A District Commissioner is in charge of each of these administrative divisions. In addition, it is the responsibility of a Superintendent of Police to maintain law and order in the administrative division.
